Picture-in-Picture

Hi, I have a Samsung 6000 LED series TV (46") and I'm trying to figure out how to use the PIP function with cable. I have Time Warner Cable in LA. When I turn on the PIP it predictably only shows snow. The reason for the snow of course is that my source is digital cable. So, is there a way to use PIP with digital(HD) cable? I use a Digital(HD) cable box to change channels, etc. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Picture and Picture is available with one coax connection, and one "other" connection. This should help explain:
