Picture in a Picture question

Does a HDTV that has the "Picture in a Picture" feature allow you to record on a different channel, than the one you are watching; using a DVD/VCR that has no built-in tuner?

It is my unstanding that using a DVD/VCR recorder that does not have a built-in tuner, only allows you to record what you are watching. Is this correct?

Yes that is correct, if you want to record from the tv you can only record the channel you are watching.
