Picture Downloads

I run Windows XP Home with SP2 and Internet Explorer version 6 - all fully updated on a Pentium 4. Up til recently I had no problem downloading and saving jpg picture files. However now whenever I try to save a jpg file it only wants to save it as a bitmap file not as a jpg. Does anyone know how I fix this?

Why is this bug in IE after 10 years?

It is disturbing that Microsoft will leave bugs like this after a decade.

The other bug that lives on? The normal.dot issue with Microsoft Word.

In Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, scroll down to Security. Put a check mark in "Empty Temporary Internet Files when Browser is closed". It works for me.
