Picking out the best laptop for me

Jul 16, 2009 12:33PM PDT

Well, I am going to college. This is my second semester, I'd like a laptop. This laptop is probably going to replace my desktop that is dying slowly on me. (had it for like 6 or 7 years now.)Anyways, I don't want the laptop only for gaming, or for just school work.

I would like a laptop that would do both, however, Not really graphic heavy stuff, the most graphic game i'd play is probably half-life, portal, and sims 3. Other than that, I usually go online alot. I dont really want a desktop. A few people are already telling me to get a desk top for gaming. I don't really want to considering I am going to be a way at college and I can't bring a whole lot of stuff with me.

I have lots of breaks in between clases and would love to sit down and play a game or go online, or do my homework in between classes.

Money wise, I know people are going to laugh, I have 800 saved up. My parents said they can give me a few hundred extra if i find a decent, well worth the money laptop that will last me five years or so.

Any suggestions? The cheaper with more features the better.

on a side note- I REFUSE to buy, dell, gate way, acer, or compaq. I was looking more in to torshiba, Hp, And i heard Asus was good but i never had one before.

All models are changing in the next few months as Windows 7 rolls out.

Wait for that then start looking.
