Question

Picasa Problem:CBlockFile: Restore err=2, album_index.db

Jul 18, 2012 2:58AM PDT

Hi,
I could not open my Picasa for some reason. It says: CBlockFile: Restore err=2, album_index.db I searched and read someone's posting here:http://forums.cnet.com/7723-7586_102-362906/cblockfile-restore-err-2-album-index-db/

I have exactly same problem like him. I followed every steps he said and almost solve the problem. But I am not quite sure the last paragraph:

"I uninstall the Picasa and still have the same problem, then I noticed the program that was opening my pictures was set to "IRFANVIEW"- I changed that back to "MICROSOFT WINDOW VIEWER" Reinstalled Picasa, it worked!"

My question is " how can I change "IRFANVIEW" to "MICROSOFT WINDOW VIEWER" ?

Does anyone explain it to me? thanks!
p.s. the system of my computer is window XP.

how to restore Microsoft Window Viewer
Jul 18, 2012 7:05AM PDT

Hi, Bob
Thanks for your quick reply. I just check the link and even bought a RegCure Pro Software online. I think the sofeware just cleaned my computer but not solved this problem. How do I restore Microsoft Window Viewer?

Sorry but I never wrote to use RegCure.

I've never found such to work.

The second link has details about restoring the viewer. Because of that, I didn't copy such information here. So try that again, and tell us what step eluded you.

However now that RegCure is involved the chances of fixing this are less than before.

Hi, Bob:
thanks for your help! The second link is just for RegCure Pro. It does helps my computer run faster, but do not restore Microsoft Window Viewer. Do you have other idea? or someone else knows it?
thanks again!

In the discussion noted.

I copied the text so you could find it.

Sadly, it may be time for your computer helper to help you do this. I did not write about finding Windows Photo Viewer." I did write about that discussion and the links there about restoring associations. I copied the text so you can find the right replies.

Try again.

This whole mess is about Associations.

Which is sadly at the root or basically how Windows knows what to do with a file. Today I'm encountering folk that do not want to know how this all works.

Maybe this is why tablets are doing so well. You don't have to know this stuff.
