PHP Mailer batch processing script

by moosechic / December 13, 2008 4:41 AM PST

Hi,

I'm setting up PHP Mailer.

I set, at least i think i did it the right way in the config.php file for 1 message to be sent every 60 seconds which should total to 60 emails per hour.

Here is what i did:
# define the amount of emails you want to send per period. If 0, batch processing
# is disabled and messages are sent out as fast as possible
define("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_SIZE",1);

# define the length of one batch processing period, in seconds (3600 is an hour)
define("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_PERIOD",60);

................

Now i started the queue and it says that "14301 messages will be sent per hour" Why does it say this when it should only be 60 messages per hour. Am i missing something...what do i need to edit in the config file?

Started
Sending in batches of 1 emails
Processing has started, 1 message(s) to process.
Please leave this window open. You have batch processing enabled, so it will reload several times to send the messages. Reports will be sent by email to mailer@lifelinehosting.net
Processing message 7
Looking for users
Found them: 148 to process
batch limit reached: 1 (1)
Script stage: 5
1 messages sent in 0.25 seconds (14301 msgs/hr)
Finished this run
Waiting for 60 seconds before reloading

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you

issue resolved?

Concerning my previous post.. i think i may have fixed the problem.

I set the "mailqueue_throttle" to 60 seconds so it looks like its sending 60 emails per hour now. (see below) # define the amount of emails you want to send per period. If 0, batch processing
# is disabled and messages are sent out as fast as possible
define("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_SIZE",1); # define the length of one batch processing period, in seconds (3600 is an hour)
define("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_PERIOD",60); # to avoid overloading the server that sends your email, you can add a little delay
# between messages that will spread the load of sending
# you will need to find a good value for your own server
# value is in seconds (or you can play with the autothrottle below)
define('MAILQUEUE_THROTTLE',60);
I want to be sure, does this mean that it's sending 1 email every 60 seconds now? So if i set the ("MAILQUEUE_BATCH_SIZE",20); It would then send 20 emails every 60 seconds?

Just making sure that i'm setting this up the right way. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hi, are you sure you are talking about phpmailer and not phplist?
Please, I really need to know. I want to know if phpmailer do have that email batch processing support like phplist.

Thanks

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
