.php install problem

Nov 16, 2008 11:53PM PST

I am trying to make an in house web server. I installed Abyss Web server X1, Mysql 5, and PhP 5 on the system. I then configured the PhP-cgi.conf and abyss according to their directions on their site. I can connect to the server fine and can see html index files fine. But the program I will be using is PhP and if I try to navigate to any other files other than the "index.html" file. I get a "No input file specified" page. My guess is I am missing a php configuration. The abyss can recognize the php extension. Just can't "execute" it. Not sure what else to do, been in contact with abyss and php5 but this is all "free" so tech support is a grueling process.

Should I just go apache? Is it easier to work with?

I should let you know I do not have any experience scripting.

A buddy tells me he used WAMP because it was easier to install than picking out and integrating separate softwares. Here's a link -> http://www.wampserver.com/en/

Some may fault easy. I never do.

After days of this php/abyss/mysql Conf problems I am looking for something to help make this project easier. I found another all in one package XAMPP. It's an all in one just like the above. It's pretty easy to navigate. Although you can not Create sql databases from the provided software. It took care of my Apache/php issues which were haunting me. Thanks for the reply Bob, others in this situation will find it very helpful to know.
