photos to folders help

Sep 22, 2010 4:50AM PDT

I need some help. On my old reliable XP, I could look at my folders of photographs and select different ones and move them to new folders and name the new folders whatever I wanted, and then open another photo folder and select pic's and add them to the new folder that I had created. With my new windows 7, when I look thru my photos, it seems that I can only move them to my desktop and not to a new folder. What kind of change did they make or what am I missing?

I Have No Such Problems...

Where are your photos located? Mine generally reside in the C:\Users\MyUsername\Pictures folder.. Creating a new folder within that location, I can move/drag all pictures into the new folder.. Or, creating a new folder in any other location allows me to move/drag those pictures to any location on the computer.

What happens when you try to move them currently?

Hope this helps.

my old xp

On my old xp, I used to go to my pictures and open a file and click on a pic and the task bar on the left side of the screen has a section that says "file and folder tasks" and under that it has an option that says "copy this file" and then you go to my documents and then to my pictures and then create a new folder and just send them there. It won't work that way on my windows 7

Yep, Such Folders Are Slightly Different In Win7

Create the new folder first, then open C:\Users\MyUsername\Pictures folder and copy/paste your selection of pictures to the new folder..

Remember, in Windows 7, the "Documents\My Pictures" doesn't really act as it did in Windows XP.. Use the personal "users" folder instead of "Documents" to find "My Pictures" and other similar folders from the past.

Hope this helps.
