Photos missing from Outlook e-mail

Nov 3, 2004 4:45PM PST

When I make a document and insert a photo from a file on my computer, The recipent gets a box with an "x" in it. No picture. Just the box. I am using Outlook 2000 with Win XP.

Fangbird,

This might be a problem on your side or on the recipients side. Impossible to tell with the limited information you supply.

Please tell (for an example message):
- The size of the message in (kilo)bytes. If only text it should be a few kb, if text + picture it's easily 100 or 200 kB.
- The file type of the picture. Can the receiver view files of this filetype when they are on his hard disk.
- How exactly do you insert the photo into what document (right into the mail, or into a document that you attach, that's not very clear).
- What is the email-program of the recepient.
- Can other recipients (test it with your work, or friends or family) see the picture? As attachment or as part of the message?

I attach it into the body of the message by clicking on the insert tabe and insert the photo from the my pictures file. Sometimes I test it by sending it to other email accts. I have and there is no picture, just the box w/ the x.

Fangbird,

Not all email clients with all their settings might be able to correctly show what you send. Try sending it as an attachement. That has a much greater chance of success.

It looks like the recipent email program is blocking your attachment. He may be using outlook express. Turn off the blocking attachment features under options and security.

I don't know what I am doing wrong, but they still don't show. Some of the mail that I get on other email sites like Yahoo, I forwarded to myself and the pics don't show. Maybe I should talk to Roadrunner.
