This is all about support for the Olympus programme and not much else. It really doesn't matter if it's XP or a desktop PC.
I see they list this programme at https://www.olympusamerica.com/crm/oneoffpages/crm_master_tips.asp as well as a support page. I'm not writing they will actually support it but there are articles there about the programme's use that would be reviewed in hopes of finding out why it's not working.
Let's drill down on something you wrote. You wrote "If I open one of the photographs now I can only use the Microsoft editing tools."
Sometimes I find users that are not aware of File Associations in Windows. That is, what programmes or Apps are to be used when we double click on a file.
In short, why not try associating your photograph's file with the Olympus app?
There are many articles about that so here's one. https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=Windows+XP+how+to+associate+a+file+type+with+a+program
Hi, I'm using an old desktop computer running Windows XP and an Olympus Master software programme to keep all my family photographs in it to view and manipulate as required. When I went to open the Olympus programme recently all the folders were there but there were no photographs in them. The photographs can be found when I go to Documents\ my pictures and open a folder called Olympus Master 2. They are all there in year by year folders (which is different to the named folders within the Olympus programme). I can't understand why they are not being opened in the Olympus programme which is so much easier to use and edit. If I open one of the photographs now I can only use the Microsoft editing tools. Why has this happened and how do I get my photographs back into the right folders in the Olympus programme? Les
