A3 and A4 are international sizes of paper.
A3 is approx 11.7 x 16.5 inches
A4 is approx 8.3 x 11.7 inches
But to use a resolution of 2048 x 1536 (3.1 megapixels) is wrong for a A3 size photo.
If you are going to print a photo, I would set the camera for the largest resolution it can produce.
Most commercial printed photos are about 300 dots per inch.
To produce the ideal 8 x 12 print, that would be 2400 x 3600 resolution.
That is around 8 megapixels.
I believe your camera has an 8 megapixel sensor.
That would be fine.
Don't worry about having a photo resolution that is larger than necessary.
The software will take care of the downsizing.

I just bought a basic digital camera for my wife, a Samsung ES 10. In the menu for choosing the photo resolution there are a number of sizes, such as A4 and A3. What she wants is a photo size suitable for 4 X 6, 5 X 7, and 8 X 12 prints. I have set the resolution at 2048 X 1536, A3 size. Would this be okay for the print sizes indicated above? Thanks.
