Most of the time it has to do with exploits found so "security overrides features."
There are many replacements for this (you may debate this) found on Ninite.com. My view is to stick with Ninite.com since it's without addons, toolbars and such. Irfanview for example has many options and has worked well for over a decade.
My OS is Windows 7, on a Dell, I5 processor, but I have Office Professional 2003 installed. In trying to reduce the size of my photos, using Microsoft Picture Manager, which has never given me problems before, all of a sudden when I reduce the size of a JPEG photo it will only save it in "JPEG file interchange format". There is no other option in the "save as" line, and once the file is saved, it can't be re-opened by Picture Manager or Photoshop. What gives?
