Photo Booth problem

Feb 1, 2007 3:12AM PST

I have a Power PC iMac G5 Mac OS X 10.4.8. In Photo Booth, in the special effect Pop Art, there are no longer 4 squares in this special effect. There is just the red square that is located in the upper left hand side and the rest of the area is large yellow. No square in the upper right or lower left or lower right. Just all yellow. When I take the pic, only the upper left, red square has a picture in it. I run the daily, weekly and monthly scripts and I repair permissions every day. I also shut down and start up my computer just about every day. What do you think this is and how can I fix this? I also run Software Update and am up to date on all downloads.

iMac 2.1 GHz PowerPC G5 with built in iSight

Mac OS X (10.4.Cool

Safari 2.0.4 (419.3)

1.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM of memory

Photo Booth Version 1.0 (1.0)

Try this

Take a look in your home/library/preferences and see if you can find the preferences file for Photo Booth.
When you do, trash it.
Next, take a look at the library at the root of the HD. The library you see when you double click the HD icon on the desktop.
Do the same for any Photo Booth preferences you find in there.

Launch Photo Booth and see if there is any improvement

I found ~/Library/Preferences/com .apple.PhotoBooth.plist in my home/library/preferences and trashed that. Then I went to the library at the root of the HD and there was no ~/Library/Preferences/com .apple.PhotoBooth.plist First, I looked and then I typed in Photo Booth in the search feature when I was in the library at the root of the HD. No entries appeared. I then re launched Photo Booth but the problem was still there. Can you suggest any other options?

I found the answer...

I found the answer here but my computer allows me to have both versions of Photo Booth. Why did Apple not have this in Software Update?

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3442483&#3442483

Only took 10 mins to find the solution. Check which version of Photo Booth you have. Check this by launching PhotoBooth, go up to the word PhotoBooth by the Blue Apple at left of menubar and check the first option - About Photobooth. One of the ones that wouldn't go was version 1.1
You can download version 1.2 here;

https://webfiles.uci.edu/jaguilar/app/Photo_Booth.app.zip

It will download and install a new version of Photobooth on the desktop. Just drag it into the Applications folder (say Replace when it warns about the older version) and you'll be up and running
Get back if you still have no joy. There are a lot of people not happy about this around the web. Seems 10.4.7 update broke Photobooth but the 1.2 update doesn't appear in Software Update when you look for one (like I did before looking for a solution). Not like Apple!!!
And don't thank me for the fix - thank Google!
Cheers from NZ

Thanks for the correct information about Photo Booth ver 1.2. You and Google worked where Apple Care failed.
I called them back and complained.
