Phones and Travel

Dec 22, 2004 12:35AM PST

The post about reception quality of different phones aside from carrier issues was significant. A bells and whistles phone means nothing if comparative reception is poor. Would be nice if objective reception tests were available. Anyone have info on that? The post on mounting business restrictions on camera phones is also important. I see this as a mounting issue. With phones soon or currently able to record voice messages I can see businesses requiring phones to be checked at the door. Sounds ridiculous, but wait for the first legal case where a recorded conversation on a phone, PDA, or iPod is admissible evidence. The sales rep makes a promise you record and use later. I definitely intend on getting an unlocked phone. As I will be doing a lot of travel, GSM seems the only option. Lets not forget battery issues.
