Phishing is not new, but Pharming?

Mar 16, 2005 10:46PM PST

This one has got me real angry! I have a seperate comp and e-mail set aside for just my finances and secure stuff. My question is; is Pharming still a concern for me? Do they attack banking systems, that are of lesser importants, such as, local banks?

Pharming

There is nothing stopping these people from changing the DNS of every bank in the world on your computer - but they will have to replicate the web page of each bank which is unlikely - so they probably will only target the most popular banks.
One thing you could do is find out the DNS number of your bank and use this instead of the usual associated DNS name in the address field.

Peter

Very helpful and much appreciated folks! My bank is local and not federal so I should be okay. I never use a credit card on-line so I am safe there.
Very helpful link also, Dana! Thanks much!
