Philips 55PL9774 TV won't start up

Yesterday it turned on, w/ sound but no picture. I restarted it, and it worked fine for about 5 minutes, then the loud whirring sound started (fans, I think, like when it starts up), and the TV shut down. Now it acts like it's going to start (the orange startup light comes on), but then shuts down, or else it works ok for about 4 minutes and shuts down. I've cleaned the filters, but it doesn't help. BTW we changed the bulbs only like 6 months ago. Any ideas?

"The TV switches off unexpectedly.
? If the lamp door is opened, the TV will shut down. The TV is designed not to operate when the lamp door is ajar.
? If a red light is blinking on the front of the TV, the set has entered protection mode. Unplug and plug the set back in a couple of
times and try to switch it on. If the problem persists, contact the Customer Care Center at 1-800-531-0039."

You didn't tell if the red led is blinking but here's the number from the manual in the US.
