phil spector indicted

Sep 27, 2004 10:10PM PDT

Legendary producer PHIL SPECTOR has been indicted on a murder charge in LOS ANGELES and will stand trial in December.

Spector is alleged to have killed actress Lana Clarkson, but maintains that she killed herself, according to the BBC.

However, the police claim Spector cleaned the gun after the shot was fired and say they found traces of blood and gunshot residue on his body.

Spector is free on $1million bail following yesterday?s (September 27) hearing. Outside the courthouse he blasted the prosecution, calling them "reprehensible" and "despicable". He remains free on $1 million bail, but if convicted faces life imprisonment

Hi Mark:

I thought I had also read that Ms. Clarkson had gunshot residue on her body, indicating that she may well have shot herself. If Spector had cleaned the gun but not fired it, it might explain the presence of residue (and blood if the gun was splattered from having been fired at close range) on Spector's body.

I know Phil Spector has been......well.......eccentric, let's say.....for a very long time but I hope he didn't do it.

He sounds guilty

He's a movie producer and doesn't have enough sense to not clean a gun that someone allegedly used to commit suicide? Give me a break!.....

Good thing you're not going to be on the jury

He is not a movie producer. He is a music producer. He's also kinda crazy. So while it's possible that he did it, it's also possible that even if it was a suicide, he wouldn't react in a rational way.

Phil Spector trial -- digging this thread up ...
Jun 25, 2007 7:37AM PDT

I've been watching Spector's trial on CourtTV (and interviews with Lana's friends) and I have to say that he's definitely guilty.

He's threatened women at gunpoint in the past (one I heard of that would be considered sexual assault if he were a regular man), and the whole idea of this woman deciding to kill herself on a whim at his house is ludicrous.

This trial isn't getting as much pubicity as other high-profile celeberties, but the outcome may be significant with regards to how the American pubic feel about celeberties getting off for crimes they commit.

Phil shows up in Jay Leno's monologue about nightly
Jun 25, 2007 9:36AM PDT

For example this from the beginning of the trial (way back in March!)

Jury selection began this week in the Phil Spector murder trial. Spector said the jury he would like to select is either the OJ jury or the Robert Blake jury. As I?m sure you know, jury selection in Los Angeles is followed by a three part process. The bungling of the evidence, the acquittal, then the book by the defendant called, "If I Did It.? Unfortunately, I can't recall Friday's joke, and they don't have an archive Sad
