Petition for better Internet Services

Jul 25, 2008 11:57PM PDT

My provider is PeoplePC and I have dial up service! You know that commercial that says the "Internet can't hide anymore" by AT&T well guess what? I have talked with out phone service to try and get DSL, other services that say they can give you this service but when I put in my area I get "Service not available in your area" The phone service has something from a box in your area but you have to be within 3 to 5 miles from that box. I am 425 feet short and can't get this service. Does anyone know if a petition signed by my area would help at all to get this service. Dial up takes very long and if anyone sends me pictures well you know how that holds up the lines. I have called just about everyone who has internet service and am frustrated with my current service. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

What about Satellite?

Not my field but have you thought about Satellite internet?

I know in the past satellite was more a one way system, downlink to the computer was via satellite, but uplink was by phone. But I understand there are now two-way satellite systems available.

As an example look at this site;
http://www.bentley-walker.com/technology.php

I don't know where in the world you are, but at least that shows what is available.

I hope that helps.

Well I have created a website just today due to all my troubles and problems with dial-up internet service and I hope it helps you solve your problem. Here it is: http://www.geocities.com/willmonsixteen/Home.htm As you will see in the website I have used dial-up for over 5 years and I know how much of a pain it can be. But as for staying on the topic of the Petition for better Internet Services I don't think it should go that far because of the fact there is really nothing DSL and Cable providers can do about getting availability to every single place possible. Maybe you didn't think of what it would cost the company to extend the range of their services. Well I can give you an idea of why they can't do this. 1. Is because of demand, if your area does not demand it to much then it would be no gain for the company to put it in your area. 2. It would cost the company money to extend the range of their service as I said earlier. One it would cost the company to pay the employees to work on the extension. Two it would cost the company to pay for supplies needed for the extention. And three refer to number one if there is not a big demand then they would lose money making the extension. 3. Forget about 1 and 2 It is all about the 3rd thing and that is GREED. Companies are too greedy to provide things to people if the demand is low. But anyways I have a service for you that is cheap and is good I have not used it yet but I will if I can soon enough. Just go to www.basicisp.net it costs only $6.95 a month. There isn't a good enough reason to go for their other service which is $9.95 a month. But the reason being is free technical support provided by them if you pay for the $9.95 service by why worry about it when you can contact me. They may say the $9.95 service is accelerated but technically there is no point in it. It does the same thing your cache and cookies do if you keep them. They speed the webpage up since they have already been loaded once and are stored on your computer. But anyways I hope this helps.
