If i want my computer to be hella fast, what do i need more: high GHz, high HD RPM, or high amount of RAM? which one would you recommend to upgrade first?

Upgrade ram first

Ram is the easiest to upgrade. Go crucial.com to find what ram your computer needs. CPU upgrades and hard drives are harder to upgrade.

If upgrading hard drive to faster one, you need to buy new hard drive and install windows onto it and this not recommended for inexperienced users.

Upgrading ur cpu is also not recommended for novices. When upgrading cpu, u need to make sure the cpu is compatible with ur motherboard. if not gotta buy new motherboard and make sure ur hardware are compatible with the motherboard.

Therefore just upgrade the amount of ram. this usually can make ur computer faster and is simple. Just make sure u get the right ram. If not, wont make a difference and can damage ur pc.

Intel

Intel has been striving to get higher ghz for years, yet AMD operates at a lower clock speed, but is just as fast. SO higher GHz is not very important, though at least 2.5 Ghz is recommended if you're getting an AMD and 3.2 for Intel. I agree with nerdyboy that ram is the easiest upgrade and probably the cheapest.

2.5 ghz?
Mar 22, 2005 4:05PM PST

are you talking actual clock speed or operating compatability? because you're looking at some serious dough of you go wirh an actual clock speed of 2.5 ghz via AMD. you've gotta be looking at around their 4000+ and up cpu's for taht.

Yes

AMD4000+ or better, i think, but i'll settled for the 3800+

sheesh you people

i stopped reading as this post

2.5GHZ AMD?!?

***?

only 2 AMD procs run that fast at stock
the A64 4000+ and A64 FX-55 (2.6GHZ)

and um
they'd smush a 3.8GHZ Intel (and actually do)

for Athlon64 at least 3200+ is reccomended, and for Intel at least 3.2E is reccomended

if you want speed you want to upgrade your graphics card, if you have PCIE i'd suggest a 6600GT, if you have AGP i'd suggest a 6600GT AGP

don't buy Crucial RAM, unless you absoultly have to, it's just...it's just not the best RAM out there

it sounds like you want extreme performance

i'd say:

high FSB
good gfx card
HDD doesn't matter (it's RPM btw, not "HD", HD is not a measurement unit for hard drives, it's the TLA for Hard drive, RPM is the speed measure (one of)
fast RAM, along with 1GB or more

and btw
going for the fastest machine out there has really no point

also
please don't use the word "hella" ever again
for any reason...EVER

Not sure about hella fast but you could gain some perf by not running things you don't need and keeping the machine slim+trim.

Cost>free

Well kind of, you will need to spend a little time and effort.

i agree

i'd agree with this
keeping spyware out, and using "slim+trim" programs (like Firefox) will help your system "feel" faster

again
please never use the word "hella"...ever

Just curious.

What's the beef with the word>hell*?

Does this have a meaning I'm not aware of?

My dictionary does not show it as a word.

um

it's just really really really annoying to hear people speak like that

it shows that he is probably either:

A) a 12-15 year old kid who wants the fastest computer on earth for whatever reason

or

B) a person who wants to have the fastest PC and act cool while doing such

it's annoying to read, it's annoying to hear people talk like that, and it's just stupid imo

i mean "my rig is hella fast, respect this shniznoz"
oh wow, i'm sure 1337 now!
