I have also been doing research on TV's in order to find the perfect TV for my Xbox 360 and I finaly settled on the exact one you are planning on getting (well, the 50 inch version anyway). By the way, the Xbox 360 now supports 1080P resolution due to an upgrade from Xbox live. All of the reports I have read about Samsungs HL-s87w series TVs say it and the 360 were made for each other.
Hey everyone, I'm sure this question has been asked many times but the answers I've been finding haven't helped me to make my decision. My wife and I just moved into a new house, and we're looking to purchase a new HDTV for the home. We are both AVID gamers and spend more time with our Xbox 360 than we do watching TV. Because of this, gaming is my primary concern with purchasing a new set.
One set that I have a keen eye on is the Samsung - HL-S5687W 56-inch 1080p DLP Rear Projection HDTV. Since the set is 1080p native, my concern is if it suffers from 'gaming lag' with the 360. I know some Samsungs have a 'game mode' setting, but I have yet to find a comment about how this mode affects picture quality.
Our budget is $2,500.00 and unfortunately I don't have the measurements of the living room at the moment. If there is any other information I can provide that will help with your suggestions just let me know and I'll happily post it.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
