percentage of users that uses some sort of Instant Messaging

Hi,

Does anyone know about percentage of users that uses some sort of Instant Messaging?
MSN might be popular but I would like to know the total number of IM users.
This is for an application and handling IM users is a suggested feature.
Idea is to decide if it is worthwhile to pursue this project.
