Pentagon report: Abu Ghraib blame goes to top

Top brass blamed for prison abuses; Pentagon and Joint Chiefs are cited for failures in oversight role.

Of course, they stop short of going into the White House, where much of the blame belongs -- the stage for Abu Ghraib was set by the memo from Alberto Gonzales, then (and sadly, still!) counsel to the President, arguing that modern realities render portions of the Geneva Conventions "quaint." Sadder still, Gonzales is still reportedly at the top of the short list for the next Supreme Court vacancy.

I'm shocked, yes, shocked that detainees were abused at Abu Ghraib prison (Donald Rumsfeld)

It sounds like they're making the torture out to be (yet another) result of the complete lack of any kind of plan for Iraq.

If bush is capable of shame I trust this elicits it.
