Question

PDF icon embedded/saved in Finder header

Aug 11, 2014 3:57AM PDT

Weird deal...I was dragging a pdf to the desktop and somehow it saved at the top of the Finder box...in the gray area. I cannot delete, move or otherwise get rid of it. When I click on it...it opens the pdf. I restarted to see if I could shake it loose...but no. Anyone ever run into this...or have a fix for me?
Thanks!
PS Oh yeah I'm working on an iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Not seen this before but,

with a window open, go to the View menu at the top of the screen and choose Customize Toolbar.

See if there is a way to remove the offending icon there

Thanks for the great suggestion...unfortunately the pdf icon doesn't show up in the customize tool bar tab. I can't believe it could even save the icon there at the header.

I have been unable to replicate your problem

not sure what to suggest at this point, other than to tell you not to click the icon. Happy

I don't think the Adobe folk can help but may be my next try...but thanks all the same.

Eureka! So as I was clicking around...I decided to do either a Command/Option or a Command/Control and try to drag it off of the header. It made the little poof! like the alias icons do when you pull them out of your dock. However, I can't say for sure which combo it was. Go figure.

Well done.

So, along with not knowing the key combination for getting it on there,
we don't know the combination for getting it off!

Happy

Update:

The Command key puts it up there, along with a drag
and
The Command + Option keys take it off, along with a drag

Mystery solved
