PDF causing IE6 to close

Oct 22, 2006 5:57AM PDT

I am currently using Windows XP and have all the current MS updates, IE6, Dell Dimension 2400. I tried IE7 but was not happy with the new format so removed it.

My problem is this:
Whenever I try to bring up a PDF file, it causes an error message and closes the browser. I also have tried on Firefox but it comes up with a blank page instead. What do I need to do to fix it?

Thanks...

Several tries...

1.) Try uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader. When you view a PDF an Adobe Reader plugin is used to display the document in the browser, so if it's corrupt it could crash the browser.

2.) Try using Foxit, a free alternative to Adobe Reader.

3.) Try performing a System Restore back to a time when it worked, if that's in the recent past.

Hope this helps,
John

mitch5511, Do a file search for acr*.tmp and delete any that you find. Start>Search>Files and folders. Then see if you can open pdf files.

It Worked!

Apparently Adobe 7 did not install properly the first time. I uninstalled it and then re-installed it, fixing the problem.

Thanks so much for your help!
