PCIe Card on a PCI socket

by marcus.jbl / March 5, 2007 2:43 PM PST

I am working on a project that requires the use of a PCIe x1 card. However I have no PCIe sockets available on my motherboard. Is there some kind of an adaptor board that will allow my computer to work with the PCIe card via the PCI socket?

Not at less dollars than a proper motherboard.

I think the cheap fix is a system with said slots.

PCIe to PCI?
by Urkel. / March 6, 2007 1:33 AM PST

Considering that they're totally different technologies, I'll agree that the easiest and cheapest way is to buy a new Mobo.

Although, a couple of yrs. ago at an unnamed "big box store", the salesperson did try and convince me that PCIe, PCI and AGP were just different names for the same slot.
