A friend of mine recently gave me a wireless adapter that he no longer needed. My problem is that i can not figure out how to open my computer and get to the motherboard to insert the adapter. As you can see, i'm not very computer savvy, but any help would be greatly appriciated. i have an intel pentium 4 processer. thanx!

It's fairly simple..

If you have a tower there will be two screws holding the side plate on. The screws are located at the back of the case, one on top and one on bottom. This holds true for most standard cases. Once the screws are out, gently slide the side toward the back to release it from the slots used to secure it.

Once you're inside it, locate the PCI slot you want to install the card in and remove the back plate (if it's there). Insert the card carefully and replace the screw that you removed when you took the back plate off. Reverse the sequence for putting the side panel back on and you're ready.

Caution: Most adapters require you install the software prior to installing the adapter. Make sure your friend gives you the CD that came with the adapter to do this.

Good Luck

Dell PCs have a stupid tilting cover and it's released by pressing some spots on the case.

We need to know the make and model of the PC.
