Do you have a folder on the harddrive at C:\Windows\Options called CABS? If so, open it up and you will usually find a slew of files named Win98_XXX.cab which represent the Windows 98 CD installation files.
If you also have the other subfolders under Options, you have the whole cd.
If you have those items, and you have a cdr/w burner for a cdrom, you can actually burn the entire contents of the Options folder to a cd and create your own installation CD. Then you only have to have the Product Code Key listed in the registry in order to have the whole enchilada for any new installs or reinstalls.
Second......if you have a program that has identified all your hardware by manufacturer and model number, please give us the information regarding the LAN/Ethernet card and also the Sound Card so we can get you on the net to where you can download and install the newest drivers for them....and that will complete your hardware installation correctly.
If you have a cdr/w type device and only need burning software, there is a free program for burning that you can download and use at:

I recently purchased a refurbished COMPAQ Deskpro EN, Pentium 3 with Win98se installed.
Unfortunately, there is no Win98se CD.
I found it necessary to install win9ex67, downloaded from Intel, in order to get the display working correctly.
The problem confronting me now is how to install the drivers necessary for the PCI Ethernet Controller and the PCI Multimedia Audio Device (found at Control Panel/ System/ System Properties/ Device Manager).
I'm new at this sort of thing.
I trust that I've provided enough info.
It should be mentioned that I downloaded EVEREST, so I do have a list of hardware.
I'd appreciate any help that can rectify these two problems.
Thanks in advance.
