Depending on the computer's hardware it may be possible to use the computer to listen into/make/answer phone calls when connected to a phone line, but without an internet connection pcAnywhere and all other applications that communicate over the internet will not work.
Solution: Use the phone line connected to the computer to connect to a dial-up internet service, and then try launching pcAnywhere. It'll be extremely slow, assuming it doesn't time out, but it's a possibility.
John
I'm a novice when it comes to computers, so I need help.
Looking to set up my home pc. (connected via DSL modem)
to a computer at work. The work PC has a phone line directly into it and DOES NOT have an internet connection. This phone line then comes out of the PC at work and into a regular phone. I am able to make a call to that phone. I am getting a no dial tone error on PCanywhere when I try quick connect from home.
I'm positive I am missing something.
Thank you for any help.
