PC wont start

Hi, i have an old pc. Today when i try to boot it nothing happens theres only a faint green blinking near the power button, is my psu is broken?

I would not jump to that conclusion. Many old PCs had the BAD CAP plague so as they get older that is one of their symptoms but without PC details I would be guessing badly. Here's a link about how to look for the BAD CAP issue:

Thanks for the link. Ive tried looking at the caps but couldnt determine if its gone faulty.
But long story short for the past few days sometimes my pc can start normally sometimes it cant.

spec: athlon le 1640 2.6ghz, 2gb ram, msi ms-7309 mobo.

Age takes its toll. Electrolytic caps dry out and give you the symptoms you are complaining about. The problem is, is it worth the cost of repair?

In order to identify which parts are not working you need to isolate the trouble, try removing other peripherals on your pc like ODD, Fans, keep it at a low profile. stick to motherboard, CPU, and Memory sticks in place and try to turn it on, usually, you hear beeps so you can identify which part of the system is not functioning. Better also when trying to check the defective parts, try to run the PC on an Outboard Environment it would be easier. Then put an update here so we can help you out.

Thank you gor the advice, i think ive tried most of it and my conclusion is probably its the mobo, other component seems fine.

Remove the cmos battery.

Go to your local merchant and buy a new one.

Install new battery.
