Find a repair shop to have a look at the damage done and discuss the possible repair options. It might be rather expensive.

As I see a lot of laptops the ones with water damage are usually fixed with a new motherboard and keyboard. Given the experience that we must give a complete estimate we now include a new battery since it could be damaged or worn out.

So...you tell that buy a new motherboard is the only solution for my problem;;;

Varies with damage.

But when we estimate a dead water damaged laptop, we have to cover all the parts that may need replacement. There are so few shops that will repair boards so a new or refurb board is the usual fix.

Can royally upset folk that are used to the days where parts were fixed. Today you swap boards.

Just worked on a water damaged laptop.

Same as before the estimate was for a new keyboard, motherboard and battery. Unless their insurance pays, it won't get repaired.

Hope and a prayer...

Too often laptop spillages aren't easily fixable by the user. You at least need to tear down the laptop and inspect and fully removal any spills. Make 100% sure it's cleaned and dry, then re-power. If you power-ON prior to cleaning you chance further electrical damage. If "no go" a shop is possible upon your skill set. Otherwise, order a replacement mtrbd. for your model# and swap. More than likely that's the real fix. You then hope the remaining devices work well, they usually do but no guarantee. All this depends on your wallet, too. If cost of repair is 50% or more, get another laptop. many users get a eBay/Craigslist same model#, swap storage media and away they go. In this scenario, cost maybe reasonable.
