Question

pc won't recognize easyshare v1073

Jul 3, 2012 12:46AM PDT

I have an easyshare v1073. I have some pics in the internal storage that I would like to get onto my PC. When I hook the usb from the PC to the camera and power on the camera the PC won't recognize the camera. It will charge but not recognize and bring up the camera like it used to. I don't and never did have any Kodak software on my PC. I used to just plug it in and be able to go to My Computer and see the camera listed as a device and transfer pics that way. I have tried two PCs now. Anyone have a solution to this. I forgot the SD card while on vacation and that is why the pics saved to the internal storage and I would like to have them, thank you.

Answer
For my Kodak, I had to install the Kodak software

To get to the internal memory pictures I had to install the Kodak software. To avoid this again I learned to pull the memory card out and take pictures until the internal memory was full. Never again did I have to worry about retrieving from the internal memory!

I installed the software and the software and/or the computer still does not recognize my camera as being a connected device. . . . Am I supposed to have a docking station too? Although this does not seem right as I did not have to have one in the past for my computer to recognize my camera as a device when plugged in. . . . .

yes I do have the "kodak" brand usb cable. It actually charges the camera but computer won't recognize as a device connected??? or visa versa and other things work e.g., ipod. I've tried all USB ports on computer. I'm thinking there might be a clitch in the inner workings of the camera

I didn't ask about BRAND.

I supplied a link to show this weird Kodak cable.

And if it isn't working on this PC, you try another PC.

All I can offer is that

My latest Kodak camera has two settings for the USB. One is "Kodak Software" and "other."

I don't see a link to your camera product manual to check if your camera has such a setting but you should check that out.

I turn the camera on, wait for it to start, press the Menu button and then the 5 way navigator DOWN to "Computer Connection."
