pc won't boot

by mungo / November 22, 2004 3:06 PM PST

About a week ago i tried turning on my hp pavillion xt853 and nothing happened. NO screen at all NOTHING. I have not done any upgrades to it. The only thing that it does when powering on is give three consecutive beeps twice and then 1 final beep. like so (beep beep beep)...(beep beep beep)...(beep).
Do you guys believe my mother board is dead?
I can't even get to the bios or any screen.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
thanx, freddy

Freddy,

This is definitely something gone south. Contact HP tech support or the place where you bought the machine. They will be able to tell what this particular combination of beeps means. It's all written down in the tech manuals, which you don't have and they do.

If you have Phoenix BIOS the Beep Codes for 3beeps,3beeps and 1beep means that the cmos battery needs replaced..Try replacing the battery..They cost about 2 dollars..

I had locked p/w from purchase of used pc. I removed buffer from jumpers, didn't clear p/w. Then I removed battery for 3 days. Now, I get no input Hd 15. I checked monitor on two other pc's where it worked. How can I format hardrive now? Thanks a lot, My Christmas is not looking as good as I hoped with my new Finds.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
