PC upgrade help

Current PC i5 4460, GTX 970, 16GB RAM.

I want to upgrade my cpu to a i7 4790k would I see a good performance boost or will it be pointless, I mainly game at 4k.

Cpu

You will certainly get more cpu muscle.

You would need to look at the games your playing to see if they will take advantage of the extra cores.
