You might start with a better software player. What are you using now. Are the video choppy when view on the computer? Of course FX5200 is not exactly the latest or the best now and it's very unlikely that upgrade the RAM will do much for you.
I have a 1080p TV with a PC connected. Using many of the online streaming video services like CinemaNow, Amazon, Jaman, Apple HD, the video is choppy. I want to fix this, but don't know where my bottleneck is.
The PC I'm using is about 4 years old. I would prefer to upgrade what is needed, but will consider a new PC if absolutely necessary. Specs are Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz, 1G RAM. NVidia GeForce FX 5200 VGA card. Comcast runs at about 4 MBps when I test it. Plenty of hard disk space for cache (1TB free).
What are the essential ingredients to get this fixed? More RAM? Better video card? HDMI video card? Any help would be appreciated.
