HDMI contains both picture and sound. DVI has only pics so you need to find another way to input the sound into the TV. But let me add that I had to upgrade the Intel video driver in my Dell netbook before I could tell it use the HDMI as as output for sound; that showed me that it isn't only the connection that is involved, but also the drivers and settings on the laptop.

- Now what exact video and audio out does your laptop have?
- And what exact video and audio in does your TV have?
- And what is the output device for the sound on your laptop set to?
- And, just in case it might be relevant: what OS does your laptop have?

Why are Samsung flat screens having the worst sound ever?

I called the Samsung dealer and you can't hook up speakers because Samsung had taken the last step toward corporate greed. You can put any kind of speaker that isn't Samsung onto their TV unless it is samsung and it has
this propriety that your remore will not work except manually if it isn't some lame proparity style speaker made by Korea. Something Net or they will not work. I WILL NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG PRODUCT AGAIN. They treat us like second class citizens over there, and I would as soon they stay over there. After my little tv blackmail, I am going back to Japans products.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
