PC still slow or not connecting

Feb 29, 2008 6:11AM PST

Posted couple of days ago and tried more scanning, moved internet connection, loaded new spyware and scanned, reboots to modem, router, etc.

PC w/XP Pro SP2, ASUS MB w/Pentium 4, Panda Internet Security. Time Warner Cable connection.

Just ran Network Magis network diagnosis and the download speed was 4.504 KBPS and upload failed twice. Msg was "problem with connection".

Again, a laptop is connected to same home network and does fine on internet.

Problem can only be with PC. Do not know how to do a system restore. Pls advise.

Also, are the modems provided by cable companies good or if I bought my own would that be better?

Thanks in advance.

Since other machines work...

The machine is broken. But what it is will be a mystery. What parts and such do you have to swap out?

Network Cable
Feb 29, 2008 2:00PM PST

Called a friend and explained everything I had done and every result. When I mentioned my download speed and not connection for upload, he said to check the cable. Sure enough, changed out the cable and now all is well with the internet.

Now I am going to uninstall MS Word or Office, and try to get Word back up and running.

Thanks again.
