Resolved Question

PC Sound card recommendation.

Mar 15, 2015 12:59AM PDT

I have a computer with Intel DX58SO mother board and I failed my integrated audio. I need to install a PCI sound card compatible with this motherboard. I don't need anything fancy for gaming etc. Any recommendations?

Answer
Only one PCI slot

the others are PCIe types. So, be sure to get the type you want for the slot you use.

If there really is a hardware failure of the sound on the motherboard, watch for other things to begin failing too. Are you sure it's not just loss of the driver files which reinstalled would bring the sound back? Have you check the sound settings and made sure the "mute" setting is not active?

Sound card

Yes, I'm sure. I plugged in a headset (shorted apparently), heard a click and that was that. Checked devices in Control Panel and no sound card.
