General discussion

pc software

I got rid of Norton, too many problems with it. I now use Avast. But I need some of the other services Norton had. Like disk doctor, win doctor, etc...
But being a newbie, I don't know what, or where to look for it.
I have Windows XP pro.
Thanks.

Norton Utilities are strictly Norton. You can purchase the utilities without the AV.

I've used Norton since the 90s, zero problems. I've gone through most of their utilities/AV software and am now running NSW 2005. Zero problems on two XP machines and two W98SE machines.

If you want the Norton utilities you have to pay for them. I don't know of any other software that works like Norton.

I took your advice. CClean is really good. I also learned how to use what windows xp has to offer for system check ups. The Windows help section just about covers everything.
Again, my thanks to all, for your kind help.
Nikki.

USe XP own services to tidy up the HD, etc., they really do work and they're free. One ulitity pgm. I use that's been a great help and its "demoware" good for 30-days and reasonably priced is TuneUp 2004. The demo version is full blown so you have access to all abilities. Here is the link: http://www.tune-up.com/ Even, if you don't like all abilities compared to Norton, its a close match. There is also System Mechanic, pretty good too, but seems to have gotten bigger over the years, did a great job for me in the past.
