Question

Pc shuts down when moved

Dec 9, 2014 8:39PM PST

Hey guys! So i bought a new charger the other day, by the same brand my pc is made, etc... As my last one was no longer working.

after i started using it, although it says my battery is fully charged, everytime i move my pc and it disconnects if even for a second from the charger, it shuts down.

Now i have run some tests and i do not think my battery is the problem.

Anyone has any idea what might be going on? I work with 3d and this si my only computer :/

I cant begin to express how frustrating this shutting down on me out of the blue thing has been Sad

I thank you guys a lot on advance already!

Idk if its any help, but i have copied my battery status report bellow.

Thank you all so much.

Answer
An old battery would do that.

I see about a 2 or so year old laptop and since battery ratings are 99% of the time 300 cycles or about 18 months of use it's not a stretch to call this one a worn out battery. This will confuse folk that haven't seen battery oddities like this. There's another issue with old batteries in they can pull more power and cause charger and board failures. I don't write at length because folk want to believe otherwise. I'll write, let them counter but reality will win in the end with more burnt up chargers or a failed laptop.

Try this -> BatteryBar (the free version) and see what it reports for battery wear.

I see your point

You are probably right, i suppose i just found it odd as it only started happening when i changed the charger,

I did what you asked, and those are the results: http://gyazo.com/8f52d3a4e1a2553ec966f2743fece1e5

I dont know if you can make anything out of it as it came out in portuguese and i am unsure on how to translate the tachnical terms, but it seems like the battery wear is on 0%, and the life time of the battery keeps on saying: calculating....

I did hope maybe it was just the case of me having some setting wrong somewhere :/

Looks like a dead end as well.

Frankly I'd try a new battery. If you are in the USA call 1800SAMSUNG and ask if there is a battery calibration feature. I didn't see it but that's 2 tries and strike outs as the information isn't showing up.
