PC running increasingly slowly over a short period of time

Jul 7, 2007 5:30PM PDT

Hi, I hope someone can help me out and thanks for taking time to read on:

I am running a custom built PC. Recently it has been running slower and slower over the past month or so, often freezing whilst trying to carry out simple tasks in windows. In a desperate bid to solve the problem I added 1GB of RAM. For the next day it ran like a dream, but has now sank into a similar routine with a slight improvement.

My PC specs are as follows:

AMD 64 3000
128MB 6600 GT
250GB HDD
1.5GB RAM (PC 2700)
Gbyte 'K8NF-9'(S939) mobo
Windows XP Pro

Thanks,
Nick.

First, if you haven't already, install Service Pack 2 on the XP PRO system.

Next, click on the link below and follow ALL of the procedures to clean up the computer:

Hope this helps.
