Pc restart?

Hi all ,I'm using windows XP and I have a brand new pc (only 3-4 weeks) ..This last week ,everytime I put an empty cd on cd-rw it restarts.Also after the restart it will go in windows xp and it will restart again n then when it gets in a windows thing pop ups sayin I have an error somewere.I'm up to date in everything ,I have anti virus and spy search& destroy and nothing is rong.Anybody has any idea what it can be?

And also ,all this started when my brother putted his hard disk on my pc too.I was hopin it would stop when he took it out but it didnt..

I wanna try it ,but won't i lose stuff ?Like I have 3000 more songs and some university things..

Kandy,

Normally, using System Restore will NOT delete saved personal files such as music files and documents. It only restores "system state" changes. But then again, if you've got important stuff that you can't afford to lose, you defintely need to make backups of those files. Eventually, all computers crash and the only way to recover those important files is to have a backup burned to a CD or DVD.
