PC on an HDTV for gaming... Good idea???

May 24, 2005 6:19AM PDT

Hello, a little backround info before the question...
1. moving into a dorm for college in the fall.
2. going to order a PC that has 2x 512mb GeForce 6800 Ultras.
3. play xbox and playstation 2 occasionally, although not nearly as much as I play PC games.
4. plan on buying the new xbox 360, playstation 3, and nintendo revolution when they come out.

So now my question... I want to have one moniter/television that I can use for all forms of gaming whether it be xbox 360 or computer games. My question is whether or not it is a good idea to use an HDTV say 30" widescreen as my PC moniter. Can a TV like that support high gaming resolutions of good quality? Like say for example i want to Half life 2 on widescreen with all the graphics turned all the way up and at a high resolution, would I be able to? and more importantly would it look good? If this is a good idea, I would be thinking of purchasing a CRT HDTV that has a DVI connection because that is what my graphics cards have... Thank you and I appreciate all the answers and advice to my question! Happy
