Question

PC losing internet connection after clean install

Aug 31, 2014 1:11AM PDT

I performed a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit on my Sony Vaio VPC-L231FX. I believe I installed all necessary drivers; the only ones I didn't install are some of the Vaio drivers for their photo viewer, media player, etc. I also currently do not have an anti-virus installed (besides Windows defender). The problem I'm having is the computer seems to gradually lose internet connectivity. When I reset my router, the internet seems to work great for a while. Eventually, however, the internet stops working despite the computer thinking it has a connection. I know its not a router problem since all of our other devices and computers continue to work well while this one is not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if any more information is needed.

Digger, there are no yellow exclamation points on the wireless connection even when it is unable to connect. I did a clean install because the computer came from a friend and I wanted to start fresh (I had done a clean install before on a different computer, with no issues, and thought it wouldn't be a problem). I did download the Vaio Easy Connect software yesterday to try that. It basically tells me everything is good when the computer is able to connect and tells me to unplug my router when its not able to connect (which doesn't answer my problem). I'll try loading the rest of the drivers from Sony just in case one of them for some reason fixes the problem.

I have just installed all of the Sony drivers and restarted everything including the router. The internet is currently working on the computer again; I'll post again if/when this changes.

Good for you

I've read here in the forums too many times about these factory Helper App's and stuff after a fresh install. Things just don't work without them.
Best of luck

Which driver details?

And for which device?

Your 'Top 7 tips' seems to be missing some information.

Besides which, according to the OP on 31 August, all is working well.

So your "Top 7 tips" seems to be un-needed.
