Pc Linux Os

Apr 4, 2007 3:48AM PDT

I have read so many good threads about PC Linus OS I have ordered a disc from PC Tech 101 to install on my computer.

I have a 250 gb sata hard drive with Windows XP

I have added a 80 gb sata hard drive for Linux

The 80 gb now has Ubuntu 6.06 lts dapper drake install on ext3 format

I want to install Pc Linux on the same 80 gb

I want to use 40 gb for the PC Linux Os big daddy and leave Ubuntu installed

My question is can I partition this hard drive during the install and add the grub boot to the mbr in the same way as I did in installing Ubuntu. I want to be able to select any os from the grub as I am currently capable of doing.

Will Pc Linux allocate the amount of swap or will I have to specify the amount

Have scanned the PC Linux Questions and answers but they only talk about making partitions etc prior to install

Thanks for the help

Ray

"Will Pc Linux allocate the amount of swap or will I have to specify the amount"

I installed BigDaddy about a dozen times and never had to specify this. It was a "dummy" install where I just pressed return a lot or clicked OK.

As to the multiple boot I have used it on Windows 2000, XP but not with an existing Ubuntu so I can't tell you what will happen to Ubuntu.

Chainloader +1 ?

Bob

The adding PC Linux to an existing grub Q & A suggest using chainloading PC Linux to grub.

The command is chainloader +1 this same command exist in grub dual boot with XP
It is under the Windows section of the grub menu list.

Would it also be the same number by that I mean +1 or would it have to be a higher number. The Q & A pertains to adding PC Linux to grub which already had Ubuntu installed.

Never had to do that.

I have booted the PC with another distro on the hard disk and it added it to the boot menu. You may be wanting my crystal ball on what will happen but sadly I have yet to do this with a system like you describe. But given I can repair the grub boot loader (loads of web pages about so I won't write about it here) if this was my machine I would have no problem pressing the enter key to install.

get the iso file to load.

I downloaded the ISO file. I then burned it to a disc and then loaded the disc into the drive. I restarted and it used to be in the past the system would load from the disc.

That isn't happening on any of my PCs. I've checked to make certain the CDROM is the first boot device but it just won't do it.

Anyone have an idea of what might be happening?

PCLinuxOS BigDaddy iso file.

Thanks

I wasn't burning it correctly.

Nero is vague about waht you are to do to make an ISO disc. I kept choosing the wrong function. When I would drag the iso file to que Nero would ask if I wanted to exit the current something or other and start a compilation. That is confusing I opened that screen by choosing to make an ISO disc. Now it wants to take me somewhere to make an ISO disc. Vague.
