Question

PC keeps freezing

Aug 31, 2015 7:57PM PDT

So I recently bought an IBuyPower PC and it randomly freezes at timesz.. If there's music or any sound playing it Freezes it makes a god awful sound... It takes a hard reboot to fix then it's fine. I updated my graphics card and tested my cup, gpu, hard drive, and ram.. All seem to be fine.. I have no idea what this could be.. I don't know if it's a registry problem or something.. I even tried re installing windows.. Listing my parts below vvvvv
Cpu: Intel pentium G3250 3.2ghz
Gpu: GeForce GT 610
Memory: Samsung 4Gb
Mobo: AsRock H81M-HDS
Hdd: Unsure but 500gb storage.
Power supply: Not sure but it's a different one then what came with pc(better)
Extras;
Bios: American Megatrends zinc Version| p1.90
Operating system: Windows 8.1
SIDE NOTES: it will not freeze running games, the only game I've had it freeze on was csgo and t ALWAYS freezes in the damn menue but if I get in a game I run fine fps. Also sometimes the only time I can get it not to freeze is I have to leave bo2 running in the background and it won't freeze. But csgo always freezes. Sometimes it also freezes when doing simple things like opening a song or something stupid that causes no problem.. I'm really frustrated.. I don't know if it could my graphics card or what.. But I'm buying a new psu gpu and cpu around Christmas so I'm pretty much building a whole new PC.. But honestly what could this be?!
Also I do not have a integrated card with it, just the nvidia card

ANY HELP OR ANY IDEAS PLEASE

Answer
motherboard drivers?
Sep 2, 2015 3:21AM PDT

I see you did a reinstall. Did you buy it with the system already installed or did you get it and install the system yourself? There are driver files for motherboards that must be installed also, peculiar to the particular motherboard, instead of using whatever windows generic driver is on there. Did you do this?

If it's a discrete card and not "onboard" did you make sure then install the driver files particular to it?

I bought the PC and it was pre installed with windows and I downloaded most of the drivers needed but I didn't download mother board drivers because I did not know what to download or that you even needed motherboard drivers. Could you post a link to the mother board drivers I need to install by any chance?

Yes I downloaded drivers to my card.

yes, but....

that is dependent on it being able to access the correct motherboard driver files, instead of generic windows driver files which may not be fully accurate for your motherboard. Windows usually has generic driver files that are good enough to run basic functions on most computers, but it's to arrive at a point where the exact driver files for the equipment such as motherboard and added peripherals can then be installed. It doesn't just stop with loading the windows system on it.

Fixed

I fixed it, I contacted my board manufacture and they recommended stripping the PC down, taking out the gpu cpu ram and HD I did so and put eveything back to together and bam working like a charm! Thank you for the help though I really appreciate it!

allowed it to recheck the hardware and find the correct driver files which must have been installed to the system, but not loaded properly.
