Question

PC Issue!

Oct 10, 2017 9:19AM PDT

I have a very serious and also can be said as a rare problem with my pc.
The issue is, whenever I try connecting to Internet via *dongle* my pc goes mad, crashes and gets shut down.
But I can access to internet using wireless network adapter and can connect to my wifi with it.
The problem occurs only when dongle is connected to use internet.

note:Many other dongles are used to test results are same !!!

PC config:
Intel i7 4770 processor
Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H Mobo
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ddr3 RAM
Seagate 1TB HDD
600W Cooler Master Psu

Clarification Request
What is this dongle?
Oct 10, 2017 9:50AM PDT

And where is this wireless network adapter?

My first guess is the drivers for the motherboard and possibly the BIOS are out of date. I'm running into folk that rely on Windows for drivers. This is still non-functional so you install drivers the old fashioned way.

For your Gigabyte I see the motherboard chipset (which has the USB chips) at https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z87M-D3H-rev-1x#support-dl under the Chipset section. I'd start with that and tell more.

It is an usb device to connect to internet which uses sim cards for the data trasfer.

I have installed all the drivers that are available for the board on its official sites. Still there occurs the problem.

The wireless usb adapter is connected to the back panel of the cabinet.

This usually means there is some issue with the dongle. You will need to test these on other laptops.

I used the dongle in my laptop as well it worked fine there.
And also I have used many other dongles to my faulty pc the result is same as the former

I don't see enough detail to guess why your PC is crazy.

Wifi
Oct 12, 2017 11:13PM PDT

That mobo does not come with wifi native.
Which means you added something.
I asked what this something was but you wanted to keep it a secret.

Then you plugged in a wifi dongle and the machine had problems.

I suspect what Grif said is true.....2 wifi adapters active at the same time is trouble.

Btw.....your hdd has problems.....look at the udma crc errors.

Lol

Actually there is nothing to hide here as I want a solution. Giff said that as both are connected at the same time that is the dongle and adapter which was the cause to the problem. In reply to that i said that because of the problem I have to buy an wifi adapter to use internet . That means that when there was the problem for the first time I didnt have any adapter to connect while using the dongle .. Only the dongle was connected previously but the problem was there...

Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit

Wow, that's great news. That version has gold support systems from your work or where you get it from. It's what folk kill for.

1. The HDD has issues. The problems can manifest in many ways so it could be why it's such a troublesome machine.
2. Driver Booster, Great way to mess up a working PC. There is so much written about these that I note it and move on. Would not use on my PCs.
3. IDMan. Not required. Can be trojan or other as well.
4. JAVA. Uninstall unless you know why you need it.
5. RAM is single channel. For a gamer you need to address this since it dogs both GPU and CPU performance.

I will get to you soon with all the unwanted things removed from the system.

And I want to thank you for spending so much time for my cause . You had to traversed through each ang every thing speccy showed up which I myself felt a boring one...
Again Thank You a lot.

Just A Thought.. Are Both Wireless Devices Active?
Oct 11, 2017 11:45AM PDT

Since the onboard wireless network adapter was probably installed first and therefore is enabled and active, if you attempt to then use the dongle wireless device at the same time, it's entirely possible they are conflicting when you use the dongle. Have you tried disabling the internet network adapter in Device Manager BEFORE enabling and using the wireless dongle?

Hope this helps.

No!
I at first used this dongle only as the only access to internet. Since it didnt allow me to access to internet rather crashes the pc therefore i tries connecting to web via usb wifi adapter and working great.

Now they are connected together .... But previously, I didnt have any adapter for surfing. Only the dongle which ***** my pc up.

Sounds Like You Have Your Answer

Only use the USB wireless connection device. As long as that satisfies your needs, forget the sim card dongle.

Hope this helps.

Nope. You've Not Made It Clear Why You Need The SIM Device
Oct 13, 2017 10:41AM PDT

And as it goes with computer wireless adapters, you can't use both "eyes" at the same time. Only one is able to "see" at a time.

Hope this helps.

Still Not Clear Why You Need The SIM Device

Especially since the other method for accessing the internet works fine.

Hope this helps.

Making derogatory comments on these forums gets the member a couple of things.

1. Fewer answers because other members won't participate.

2. Locked or deleted posts.

Since we're all here trying to help YOU, it might be better for you to help us find a solution for your issue. Unfortunately, since you refuse to accept the solution of using only one device, it still would be nice to know why the SIM device is necessary.

If not, we'll close the thread.

But at the same time you are also giving an unacceptable solution for the problem.
If I had to do like that ,I would not post the issur for the discussion. Also there would surely be some problem in the pc which I am curious to know about and at the same time it may be an indication of something big. If not resolved ,it wil cause a great damage to me.

These things I didnt want to write for you cause giving such a solution can never understand straight forward language.

Re: dongle
Oct 13, 2017 11:36AM PDT

Maybe Vivov wants to use the dongle where there is no wifi, or his 4G connection is faster than his wifi, or cheaper for him, or not capped.

I think the question is why the dongle causes the PC to "go mad" and "crash" and "shuts down". But he doesn't tell any detail about the device, nor about what happens (with a crash I expect a BSOD with some error number and module and there might be something useful in the event log), not even about the drivers and Device Manager.
So while it is a good question there is no information to do any informed guess about the cause.

I appreciate you, somewhere understand me .

On the other hand I am sorry for not presenting a proper details of how the crash happens and what I did etc.

First assume that there is no wifi adapter pluged in

It is then like that, whenever I insert my dongle in my pc(either in the front panel or in the back ) ,

1.(when gpu is plugged in) It hangs and after a few second display goes off but the cpu keep running until I switch off the power supply.

2.(when gpu is unpluged) It hangs and shows a hazy white screen and continues till power is cut off.

I have formatted my pc many time with win 7,8,10 also with ubuntu but problem remains.

I thought it would be MoBo problem and it was on warranty and I exchanged many times but problem exists.
I changed Rams too but didnt solved the problem
Put on other displays, but problem remains

Mentioned all experiments I did and conclusion I get .

Re: info

That's very informative already.

- Can you explain what you mean with "plug in a gpu"? The gpu is inside the PC on the graphic card. Quite difficult to unplug. And how can you see anything (albeit hazy) without a gpu?
- Can you explain what you mean with "it hangs"?
- Can you explain what you mean with "the cpu keep running"? And the cpu doesn't keep running if you unplug the gpu?
All of this is totally un-understandable.

Since the same things (hanging, hazy screen or black screen, running cpu) happen in 3 versions of Windows and Ubuntu, I don't think it's a Windows of software issue, unless you didn't install any drivers.
Can you tell what exact drivers you installed, for all 3 versions of Windows and for Ubuntu?

Finally, can you tell what happens when you connect this dongle to another Windows PC?

I mean when I take out my graphics card and then then turn on my pc putting the display cable in the motherboard's vga port then mouse cursor stops moving soon then hazy white screen appears but when I attached the graphic card with the system and turn on then as previously the the cursor doesnt move soon after that display shows nothing ,that is ,it comes up with a black screen

Yes i used the dongle in my laptop ... Worked fine.

I installed all three version and one ubuntu as well without any driver installed also with all drivers installed...(over 50times)

I got no clue..
