What other security do you employ?

Browser security, use non-IE browsers.

Wireless security, eg WPA-2 and not WEP?

Do not use P2P.

It's difficult to understand what you are saying.

"but my web was just my telephone number" - I don't know what that means.

"they sent stuff from my sent items to ex bosses and then other ppl I dont know" - who are these ppl you don't know?

But here's the killer problem, "I realized today had no anti virus software like I thought it did". That's how they took control.

In addition to that, no mention of a firewall, so that is how they gained entry in the first place.

You need to fix those.

You got keystroked, look in to getting some security software that employs the feature, btw, it won't be free.
