May 25, 2017 1:25PM PDT

Hi, I have a problem that my PC goes into BSOD every 24 hours about so, and then the boot drive for windows changes, so I have to go into the bios and change the boot drive. It happens at random times, when I play games, movies, normal browsing so nothing special.
My hardware:

and I get this screen

BRB with the Speccy reading (it takes time.)
May 25, 2017 2:32PM PDT

Ask the machine's buillder why that PSU? It's a QUAD RAIL so while total Watts is OK the +12V rails are only 25A each so it's possible to tap one too hard and crash.

-> Remember I will assume you got the CHKDSK done.

What is a CHKDSK?
Like when I check for errors in the HDD?

How To Run Chkdsk /f / r /x
May 25, 2017 5:21PM PDT

Try running Chkdsk in "repair" mode to find any damaged files and correct them. Start by opening a command prompt as an admin. RIGHT click on the Start button, choose "Command Prompt (Admin). (Or type "Command" in the search line, then RIGHT click on the "Command Prompt" listing at the top, choose "Run as admin".) Once there, type chkdsk /f /r /x, leaving the appropriate spaces between the letters as shown, then press the Enter key. You should see a note that it can't be run till a restart is done, type "Y" for yes, then press the Enter key again. Close the command prompt and restart the computer. Chkdsk will run upon restart and will take quite a while to finish.. Don't panic when the progress bar stays at 10% for a long time. It's fairly normal and the Chkdsk process may take a couple of hours.

When it's finished, it will boot to your normal startup/lock screen and you can login normally and then see if things are working correctly again.

Hope this helps.

Speccy reading. What I would do if mine.
May 25, 2017 2:37PM PDT

Remember this is what I'd do to simplify my PC.

1. Java. Remove if you don't know what you use it for.
2. Power Profile. Set all to disable or never until stable.
3. Read http://www.blackviper.com/windows-services/certificate-propagation/ Disable unless you use smart cards.
4. Infected or cracked OS. AutoKMS.

When I hit a cracked or infected OS I stop. This item has unknown effects on Windows and the machine. Fix this and we can start again.

Are you sure the OS is cracked?
May 25, 2017 2:40PM PDT

I upgraded to Windows 10 while they had free upgrade promotion, and defently the Microsoft office is not the most legit, but im pretty sure the OS is. And I want to add this started a while ago, a bit of aged pc, but it worked for a couple of years and then a couple of weeks ago this started.

Cleaning
May 25, 2017 3:08PM PDT

Considering the age of that cpu whens the last time you cleaned the machines innards?

Compressed air and a small brush.

Pay attention to the heatsinks and fans they can get loaded over time.

I must bow out. You do have an iffy PSU. Ask the maker if they will replace it with a normal single rail model.

Not possiable
May 25, 2017 3:22PM PDT

The builder will not change it for free, as I said it is an old computer. But it worked great for a couple of years, but just a couple of weeks ago it started to have these BSOD. and nothing of the hardware is changed, so I higly doubt it is the PSU

I'm seeing age and dust, dirt etc as Bob---b said.
May 25, 2017 3:27PM PDT

Have you cleaned inside as suggested?

May 25, 2017 3:30PM PDT

Tomorrow I will get some compressid air.
But can dust really cause BSOD?
As I said before, it happens at random times, and about once every 24 hours

- Collapse -
Yes.
May 25, 2017 3:45PM PDT

A family member brought a laptop to me. shutting down, fans racing etc. besides other things like too many toolbars etc, I took the back off and treated it to a dose of canned air to the fans and fins on the heat sinks using a small brush.
You might have to renew "thermal paste as well".
The family member said " the fan's not working". I said, it doesn't need to.

Dust bsod
May 25, 2017 3:54PM PDT

Yes.
Get enough of that stuff built up and some part over heats and odd things happen.
Don't forget to give the psu a few shots of air from both directions you might be amazed at the stuff that comes out.

Notice where AutoKMS is?
May 25, 2017 4:05PM PDT

It's in the Scheduler area. Could be as simple as that. But no assurances. When you work a machine like this, you stop when you find cracks, trojans and such because they do all sorts of things.

So how do I remove it?
May 26, 2017 12:46AM PDT

Iv seen it in Speecy, and How do I remove it? Any clue?

- Collapse -
Re: remove
May 26, 2017 1:21AM PDT

Since Speccy says it's scheduled, have a look in Task Scheduler. That doesn't really remove the program, but if it's no longer run that might solve the BSOD's. To remove the program, see if it's in Control Panel>Programs and Features.

Ill give it a go

I just ended it in the task manager, so lets see if it solve the problem

That's not the same as task scheduler, of course.

Answer
Samsung SSDs?
May 27, 2017 7:04AM PDT

Not a suggestion for a solution but looking at the Storage section in the Speccy, the second SSD is showing Heads 16 but cylinders, tracks and sectors as zero, unlike the first one that has correct figures (albeit allowing for SSD emulation). Is that of any significance?

I had a laptop one time that would periodically "lose" its HDD, just hang, no BSOD, power button restart and then it would fail to find the HDD. Had to reset it in the BIOS. Sounds like some similarities with the OP's situation. A clean re-install on a new HDD fixed it for me but I never really got to the bottom of it.

Windows 10 v.1607?
May 27, 2017 12:21PM PDT

I too had constant BSOD's that I could not resolve with Windows 10 v.1607 on an HP m7657c Media Centre PC. However, since receiving the Creative Update v.1705, the BSOD issue has disappeared. Not sure what I can recommend except get the Windows 10 Creative Update if you do not have it installed yet. If you already have the Creative Update installed, I would recommend the Microsoft forum and support service.

Also, the 2 url's in your question did not display any relevant material or pics. No one else in the discussion mentioned this flaw.

It would be interesting to see what will happen AutoKMS
May 27, 2017 12:25PM PDT

Since AutoKMS is what it is, I wonder what Microsoft support would say about that.
