PC Games Now Freeze?

by krayzed896 / February 16, 2008 10:39 AM PST

So here is my story, my pc was able to run just fine with games (like GTA: San Andreas, The Movies, and City of Heroes) but then I bought Half-Life 2 and it would freeze for a few seconds every few minutes while playing HL2. I upgraded my video card (software wise, as it had a downloadable upgrade) and it didn't help. So that sucks but whatever, soon, more and more of my games would start to freeze while playing, even ones that worked just fine before. So now I can't play games on my PC because of the freezing which now happens more than the game playing. I don't know how to solve this problem of having my games playable again without the freezing. It cant be my PC doesn't have the hardware because like I stated, it USE to be able to play these games. Any help is appreciated, here is the info on my pc I hope will help.

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

AMD Athlon(tm)XP 2400+
2.00 GHz, 512 MB of RAM

Adapter Type:
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X

Hope this info helps, any help is much appreciated!

rolling back that software/driver update, or better still, System Restore to when it worked? If that deletes the Half Life install then so be it, but at least you would have your other games back.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
