Question

PC Freezing and sound loop

May 14, 2020 1:46AM PDT

Hi guys. I need some advice on an issue I have been having recently.

My pc specs:

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

CPU: RYZEN 5 1600

PSU: Antec 500W VP500PC bronze plus

RAM:G.Skill F4-3200C16D-16GTZB TridentZ 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200MHz CL16 1.35V

GPU: RX-590P8DFD6 8GB GDDR5 256-bit

MOBO: MSI B350M GAMING PRO
So I recently updated my BIOS to the beta version (I ended up switching to the stable version). I then installed AMD Ryzen master and overclocked my CPU using the app to 3600. I was following a guide.

I stress tested my CPU and everything seemed to be in order. I then tried messing with the memory control options and moved my memory slider to 1,600 MHz (I don't remember the exact number) It asked me to restart. After the restart, my pc started freaking out and crashing when I got into my desktop. I managed to turn off the Memory control via an old system restore point.

Every now and then my pc will just freeze up and the sound starts looping. I need to hard reset it a few times before it runs again till the next freeze. It happens randomly. I can be idling on my desktop, watching a video or playing games, it happens regardless.

I have been dealing with a few power outages recently in my area if that has any effect?

I also had Memory Dumps, Windows Log files, Windows error Reports, DNS Cache, and Chkdsk File Fragments turned on in my CCleaner options under custom clean.

My question is did I somehow break my Ram or PSU by messing with the ram MHz? Or did I break something on my MOBO? Will I need a new PSU, Ram, or MOBO? Any info would be of great help. Thank you very much!

Rarely breaks hardware with settings so put them back.

Also since this is a Ryzen you always start with the current BIOS then reset that BIOS settings to clean install the OS of choice and if need be drivers and applications.

There were a lot of bum 350 chipset motherboards so if you replace that, I would think that's a great idea AFTER you treat the PC like a clean slate.

Thank you for the response.
I reset the Bios setting to default and cleaned the CMOS. (no freeze as of yet after Bios restore, fingers crossed) I made sure that everything in the Ryzen master is set to default. I am now in the proses of making sure all my drivers are up to date. I might do a fresh install of windows if it persists.

Sounds like progress.

The reinstall of the OS can test a person's mettle.

Hi, there are many reasons that can become the case of computer freezing like too many apps running, driver issues, operating system issues, hardware miss-configuration, insufficient RAM, BIOS setting, power issues, hard drive malfunction, etc. These are the fundamental causes that make pc freezing or system crash. Here the primary thing is to take a backup of your system other it may be possible of data loss. Although we can retrieve back using third party utility like Recuva, testdisk, etc. But if hard drive making some noise possibility of harddrive failure. After it may or may not be possible to recover. Thanks
